Shortly after we debuted, we went to a show and had to say hello to the director before taping. He told us that he thought SVT would not become popular. Despite this, we had to smile at him, and then we continued to work hard.

Fans were furious when Jun brought up the humiliating incident from the group's early days. They stormed X to highlight the group's success and hard work.

  • “I can't even imagine how many insults SEVENTEEN had to face and endure during their debut. I'm glad they didn't give up and proved everyone who doubted them wrong."
  • “When I say SEVENTEEN is a huge inspiration, I mean it. Throughout their careers, they have been told to their faces that they will fail. The boys turned all that hatred into fuel to keep moving towards the top. And here they are now! »
  • “And that's why the Carats get angry when someone on Twitter discredits Seventeen. To simply say “they’ve been through a lot and they’ve worked hard” is an understatement. They've faced incredible odds to get to where they are now, and there's proof of that all over the internet. »

Netizens gave examples of how the K-pop group members responded to criticism, from their songs to Woozi's emotional speech at the 2023 MAMA Awards. They also discussed the fact that SEVENTEEN has shown tremendous effort and commitment to reach their current level, despite critical remarks.

  • “The intimidation SVT had to endure from the industry during their early years is unbelievable. Their countless stories about people constantly putting them down, and they were so young at the time. I am so impressed by their ability to remain caring and kind after everything they have been through. »
  • “I have heard this often from SVT. I think this is the same reference Woozi and S.Coups made after winning the Daesang at the MAMAs. But I still don't know what show and who it was. »
  • "Honestly, that's probably why Mingyu's line in LALALI ("split the money in thirteen parts, but always full") is one of my favorites: it's the ultimate revenge against everyone who , at first, didn't believe in them because of the size of the group. »

A group that made itself. They were already very popular and already sold 1 million albums at the time of their comeback, long before joining Hybe. The latter is just a plus

When a talented young group tries to break through in Korea...we end up with the same hatred that BTS suffered...the best thing that happened to them is to be sponsored by HYBE and to be able to use their creative spirit...no offense to the hateful…a multi label has advantages..

A camel

I started listening to them thanks to Jun who I had seen in a drama. I was surprised since they weren't popular even though they had good songs. I was very happy when their agency came to Hybe and told me they were going to be popular and I'm not disappointed. They deserve it

K-pop curious

I will never understand the point of denigrating nugu groups but their experience is unfortunately not an isolated case.

Kudos to SEVENTEEN for hanging in there and holding on.
