BTS's V Makes Indie Game Viral After Live Streaming

Social deduction game Goose Goose Duck broke Steam records after BTS' V started streaming it.

The free-to-play social deduction game was the third most played on Steam on Thursday, reaching a peak of 563 players and surpassing Steam favorites like PUBG: Battlegrounds, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 677 and Apex Legends.

What drove Goose Goose Duck's growing popularity? Gaggle.fun, the developers behind Goose Goose Duck, can of course thank Korean pop giant BTS.

Goose Goose Duck was released in October 2021, following an early access launch six months earlier. The social deduction game, in which players take on the role of geese trying to find the masked duck (or other bird) among them, typically had a few thousand players each day, peaking in February last year with 21 players, according to Steamcharts data.

But in November last year, BTS' V began playing Goose Goose Duck in front of fans via the social app and web platform Weverse.

Almost immediately, Goose Goose Duck quickly became a much bigger success, growing from around 6 peak concurrent players in mid-November to nearly 000 peak concurrent players a month later. The game's peak player count tripled by the end of the year.

This success became overwhelming for Gaggle.fun, who thanked the players and V.

“We appreciate all the love and support. We expected a big increase in players, but not like this. The 250 increase to our already massive player base was too much.

We are working to increase capacity as quickly as possible and will keep everyone informed. We apologize for the inconvenience, we are all working hard to make sure everyone can play. »

With BTS currently on hiatus, we hope that members who love the games can help other under-the-radar games find a new audience.

I will surely attract the wrath of the armys, but don't you think (and I'm not generalizing, I want to make it clear!) that some people lack the personalities to play a game just because a member of BTS is there plays ? I even come back to any product that they are going to use, whether it is a drink or the famous laundry detergent? It's absurd to come to this...
