I have lived in Korea for 15 years and am familiar with the Korean university system. I studied there and work for a major Korean conglomerate. Seoul National University is the most renowned in the country because it is the most selective for Korean students. However, this does not necessarily mean that the quality of teaching is better there. A degree from this university will not be of much value to a foreign student. The best professors go where the money is, and Seoul National University, as a public university, cannot offer salaries as high as private universities. With or without a scholarship, I don't think studying at Seoul National University is particularly beneficial. Samsung-owned Sungkyunkwan University is a much better choice in terms of teaching quality.

Are the criteria as selective for foreign students as for locals?
I saw that they all wanted to go to SKY and that there was fierce competition to be accepted.

Hi, yes very clearly, these are scholarships that are extremely difficult to obtain. Being myself studying in South Korea, only 2 students had scholarships from the Korean government in all the foreigners who are in my university this year and they were applauded and congratulated by the Korean staff who welcomed us so much it was an event. Returning to SNU in the same way remains reserved for very good students because you then have to take responsibility for following the courses. Same thing for the rest of SKY. My French university when I applied to study in Korea had a partnership with Yonsei and it was of course the best student who had already spent 2 years in Korea who got it.

Thanks for your return.
